Win A Waterman Pen For World Stationery Day

Waterman Pen

Today marks World Stationery Day, which is right in the middle of National Stationery Week! To celebrate one of our favourite days of the year, we’re taking a look at some of the most famous pen manufacturers in the world as well as giving you the opportunity to win a Waterman Hemisphere Stainless Steel Ballpoint Pen.

Pens have a long and luxurious history with many of the most famous literary works being written or outlined with pens, such as J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book to many of Stephen King’s novels. They remain the writing instrument of choice when signing in laws across the world, meaning that the hand-written skill is as important today as it has ever been.

Pen Brands Famous Across The World

When asked to think of a famous pen today, many people’s thoughts will immediately jump to the Parker brand. Founded 1888 in Wisconsin, United States by George Safford Parker, these pens have become beloved brands that offer both high end options along with more affordable. In 1941, Parker Pens introduced the Parker 51, which proved to be the most used model in fountain pen history.

Another pen company that will jump to the forefront is Mont Blanc, the luxury pen brand established in Hamburg, Germany in 1906. The Montblanc Meisterstück No. 149 is deemed to be one of the most famous fountain pens in the whole world, with many famous fans including President J. F. Kennedy, President Obama, Diane Keaton and Queen Elizabeth II to name just a few.

The Cross pens also have a long association with the presidency of the United States of America. Founded in 1846 in Providence, Rhode Island, the American pen maker has the pen of choice for signing executive orders in the White House. Cross pens have been the writing instrument of choice since President Bill Clinton and are traditionally given as souvenirs to guests who attend the bill signings.

And while they may not hold the prestige that some of these luxury brands have, it would be hard to discuss the most popular pens in the world without mentioning the BIC Cristal pens. The 100 billionth pen was sold in 2006 and is often the pen people will think of when they ask for a ballpoint pen.
