Work can often be a dull place due to the monotony of what you are doing, particularly in areas that do the same thing every day. The winter months often make it even harder to enjoy work with the dark mornings and evenings intruding into the workplace.
But the good news is that there are simple and easy ways to bring some fun into the workplace to help bring everyone’s spirits up. In fact, there’s a whole day dedicated to this with the International Fun At Work Day.
So how can you bring some laughter and joy to your office? We’ve put together some great tips that are quick and easy to do but will bring a smile to your colleagues or employees faces.
We’re not talking about setting up games that require a lot of thinking or preparation. Instead try to think of games that can be prepared and played within minutes. Perhaps think of a fun quiz that can be sent out by email.
This will allow everyone to get involved if they have time as well as encouraging a little competitiveness. Make sure to offer some kind of reward, even if it simply some sweets. Other game ideas could be paper basketball, just scrunch some paper into a ball and see who can get the most balls into a bin. Make sure the games are quick to play as well as being simple so as not to interrupt work too much.
Ask people to send in their best jokes and then send a compilation of the funniest out to everyone. Get people to judge what they think the best joke is and then crown the winner! Even the most gag worthy jokes can potentially bring a smile to someone’s face!
Expect lots of groaning when someone tells a particularly bad joke, but remember that it’s all in good fun.
A quick stop to the supermarket or local shop for some treats is guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of an office worker. There’s nothing better than free food that is also sweet! Make sure to get food that people will actually want to eat and offer healthy alternatives for those who want to abstain from sweet or junk food.
People will appreciate the thought and though you may not realise it, it can brighten someone’s day and break up the repetition of work.
Do you have some tried and tested ways to bring some laughter to the workplace? Why not let us know? We’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas!
